The Wheel of the Year

The Wheel of the Year is the annual cycle of seasonal festivals, consisting of the year’s solstices, equinoxes, and the midpoints between them. Names and dates for each festival vary among different pagan traditions, but many modern Pagans use the Wheel regardless of practice. This cycle has been sacred to many people for a very long time, with many holidays being of ancient Celt origin (fire festivals) and ancient Anglo-Saxon origin (solstices & equinoxes). Regardless of religion and practice, and whether you refer to it as them as Sabbats, festivals, holidays, or their ancient names…the cycle remains a symbol of life, death, rebirth, and celebration.
