Autumn Equinox (Mabon)

(may-bin)

September 21 - September 29

Mabon is the second Fruit Harvest (fruit) and often called the Pagan Thanksgiving. After the grain harvest, Lughnasadh, is completed, we enjoy the abundance of fruit and vegetables at this time. Mabon is another point of perfect balance on the journey through the year, as it’s also the Autumnal Equinox (its counterpart being Ostara/Spring Equinox). Night and day are again of equal length and we are at the cusp of transition, but this time the darkness is returning.

Apples are the symbol of Mabon and the Fruit Harvest. Baked apples are a wonderful, warm, and delicious way to celebrate!

Mabon is celebrated in the Northern Hemisphere on September 22 and marks the start of autumn. At this time light and dark have found balance but soon the darkness will consume each day.
